URN BURIAL FOR BOTH MARY ANN AND JEROME HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL THE FALL. PLEASE CHECK BACK FOR DATE AND TIME.
It is of great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Ann Malek at the age of 81. Mary Ann was embraced by the hands of God and entered Eternal Life on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Mary Ann was born on June 11, 1942 in Chicago, IL. She graduated from St. Scholastica Academy in 1960. After high school, she moved to Wisconsin and attended Marquette University, earning her Bachelors of Science degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education (’64). While in school at Marquette University, she met her devoted husband, best friend and love of her life, Jerome (Jerry) Malek. They married on August 8, 1964. Mary Ann and Jerome eventually settled in Greendale, WI where they raised their family.
Mary Ann worked for the Milwaukee Public School District as a high school mathematics teacher for over 30 years. She spent the majority of her teaching career at South Division High School and then also at Rufus King and Hamilton High Schools. She went on to earn her Masters of Science degree in Computer Sciences from Cardinal Stritch University. After which, she also taught computer science classes in addition to mathematics. After retirement, she never left the education world and became a substitute teacher until 2020.
Mary Ann was a wonderful example of nonstop love and generosity to those around her. She was an amazing family matriarch who always enthusiastically gave her time and energy to everybody she met. Mary Ann was a shining example of bringing joy to life’s moments, big and small. She was the one who would throw a bow on her head in the Christmas picture and give ‘just one more’ dog treat, three more times. Mary Ann always stayed busy, whether it be spending time with her family, working as part-owner of Root River Lanes in Franklin, swimming in countless lakes or pools, boating and water-skiing, volunteering as an actual clown at parades, being an active member of the Greendale Woman’s Club and the Red Hat Society, or delivering meals on wheels. She was a devout parishioner of Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church in Greendale, WI for over 50 years where she graced the church with her beautiful singing while attending Sunday mass. Above all else, she had a deep love for her family, her community, and her faith. She reminded her family of her continuous love until the very end. She was a true blessing to her husband, family and friends and will be dearly missed. Memories of her strong and outgoing personality, infectious laugh and never-ending smile will be cherished forever.
Mary Ann is survived by her four children; daughter Michele (Ray) Grandlich, son Gary Malek, son Michael Malek, son Randall (Stacey) Malek, and five wonderful
grandchildren; Sierra, Alexa, Justus, Andrew and Everest. Further survived by brother Norbert (Judy) Witt, sister-in-law Marilyn Witt, brother-in-laws Joseph (Linda) Malek Jr. and Richard Malek, and sister-in-law Arlene Malek. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Jerome Malek, parents Dr. Stephen and Josephine (Skrocki) Witt, brother Richard Witt, father-in-law Joseph Malek, mother-in-law Martha Malek, sister-in-law Irene (Danny) Wanserski, sister-in-law Rosanna Malek. She was loved by many other very special family members and friends.
