On January 19th, Marty unexpectedly left us to join his departed loved ones, and we imagine he is jamming with his guitar playing idols Cash, Garcia, Harrison, and Jennings. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Kerscher) for 50 years. Proud father of Terrance (Jennifer) and Dr. Patricia Golden (Robert Beckmann). Devoted Poppy of Kayla, Jonah, Karyna and Martin Golden, Sean and Jacob Seifert, and Hailey, Hannah and Helena Beckmann. Cherished son of Evelyn Golden-Schneider and the late Martin Golden Sr., step-son of the late William Schneider. Dear brother of Patricia (Edward) Cody, Maureen (the late Ralph) Keeler and Janet Golden (fiancee Timothy O’Sullivan). Step-brother of Lauren Hughes and Virginia Servilio. Brother-in-law of John (Sandra) Kerscher, Margaret “Peggy” Kershek, and Norene (Dr. Thomas) Culhane. “Favorite” grandson of the late Evelyn and the late Terrance Bryan of Brooklyn, NY. Much loved son-in-law of the lates Francis and Frances Kerscher. Very grateful friend of Bill. Marty will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to name. Funeral services will be held this summer when safer times arrive. Marty was born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Glen Rock, NJ. He graduated from St. Peter’s Prep. in Jersey City. Following in the Jesuit tradition, he chose Marquette University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree, then pursued and received his Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He went on to have a long and distinguished career as a pharmaceutical rep, retiring from Roche Labs. He was active in the Marquette Parents Board, the Greendale Library Board, as a confirmation facilitator at St. Alphonsus, and in many sports both as a coach, participant and spectator. With little fanfare Marty made his first hole-in-one last fall, “Isn’t that the point of the game?” Having been a loyal fan since moving to Milwaukee in 1967, he delighted in his part time job with the Milwaukee Brewers as an usher. Marty had many hobbies; reading, completing crosswords, and frequenting the Greendale dump. Our family gatherings involved him telling us humorous life stories and singing his favorite playlist, with friends and family joining in; his music repertoire was extensive. He was an honorary chauffeur and advisor to his grandchildren, always knowing how to put a smile on their face. Marty enjoyed attending their events, great or small. He enthusiastically participated with his mom in the San Antonio Bihl Haus Golden Writer’s Group. He was incredibly proud of his Irish roots evidenced by the stone garden paths throughout his yard. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Greendale Public Library, the Food Pantry at St. Alphonsus Parish, or the St. Alphonsus Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society would be meaningful and appreciated.
