Mark W. Furgason, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 24, 2024, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, after bravely battling cancer for six years. He was born on February 23, 1958, in Wisconsin, where he spent his early years and later established a life filled with love and dedication to his family.
Mark is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy (Boczkiewicz) Furgason, who stood by his side through life's triumphs and trials. He treasured his role as a father to his three children: Jennifer (Mark) Olbinski, Tami (Nick) Foucault, and Brian (Amanda) Furgason. Mark derived immense joy from his grandchildren: Collin, Hannah, Jacob, Bella, Eleanor, Colten, Addie, and Livie. They fulfilled his life with immense happiness and joy. Arial, his four-legged companion, was his chair companion and was constantly at his side.
Mark is lovingly survived by his stepmother, Rose Furgason, and siblings David Furgason, Rick (Wendy) Rytman, Sue Herrick, Matt Furgason, and Beth Herrera, whom he loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland Furgason and Charlotte Rytman, and his stepfather, Richard Rytman. He also mourned the loss of his siblings, Paul and Debbie Furgason, whose memories remained in his heart.
Mark attended and graduated from Cudahy High School in 1976. It was during these years he met his loving wife, Nancy. After graduation, he enjoyed a successful career at Kitzinger Cooperage. Outside of work, he was a member at St. Matthews Parish, and he spent many years giving back to various organizations. Mark was an enthusiastic sports fan, constantly watching and supporting all Wisconsin teams. He was an avid camper, enjoying many years camping with family and friends. Mark also loved getting away to enjoy the warmth at their home in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife Nancy.
Mark loved coaching and dedicating time to youth sports. He spent numerous years coaching his son's Brian's various sports teams. He made many wonderful relationships and friends through all the years coaching. He will be missed greatly in the community because of it.
Throughout Mark's life, his strength and unwavering support and love was a comfort to his wife Nancy, his partner and best friend. He cherished spending time with his family. Mark was a constant presence in all his grandchildren's lives, who cherished him deeply. He loved coaching and attending their youth sports, dance, and music performances.
Mark W. Furgason will be remembered for his unwavering courage, warm spirit, and the love he so generously shared. His generosity, sense of humor, and caring nature will be missed by all who knew him.
In honor of Mark’s life, friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation on January 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Max A. Sass & Sons Funeral Home - Mission Hills Chapel, located at 8910 W. Drexel Avenue, Franklin, WI 53132. A Mass will be held in his memory on January 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church, situated at 9303 South Chicago Road, Oak Creek, WI 53154. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
