Margaret J. McGowan (nee McCorry) Margaret McGowan, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Saint Annes Salvatorian Campus. Margaret was born in Toronto, Canada and earned a B.A. in French and German from the University of Toronto and a M.A. in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She loved learning and books and served as the adult services librarian at the Wauwatosa Public Library. In 1981, she was named the library director and spearheaded the successful library expansion project. She was a dedicated member of the Rotary Club of Wauwatosa and always enjoyed her monthly book club. Margaret leaves behind her devoted husband, Jack, of 64 years. The couple met as children while their families vacationed on Lake Simcoe, Ontario. They renewed their friendship every summer and married in 1952. She will be deeply missed by her children Nancy (Chris) and John (Jill) and her grandchildren Elizabeth, Molly, John, Mary Margaret, Matthew, Kathleen, and Joseph, who will always remember talking and laughing with her over cups of tea. Margaret was predeceased by her parents John and Lily McCorry and her sister Nancy (Bud) Campion. In keeping with Margarets wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, her memory can be honored through donations to the Wauwatosa Public Library Foundation: The Wauwatosa Public Library Foundation c/o Wauwatosa Public Library 7635 W. North Avenue Wauwatosa, WI 53213 Please indicate the donation is in honor of Margaret McGowan. Proceeds will go towards purchasing books for the Childrens Collection.
