Louise J. Van Den Berg

September 20, 1925 — April 3, 2018

Van Den Berg, Louise J. Sep 20, 1924 - April 3, 2018 The youngest and last surviving of 9 children born to Italian immigrants Tony & Nancy Geracie. Louise's slight 4'10" frame couldn't contain the power and beauty of her tremendous singing voice. A lead voice for several Milwaukee area Big Bands of the 40's. Louise was most proud of her experience of sharing the stage with Vic Damone at the Eagles Ballroom. As much as she loved music, she loved even more a man named Earle with whom she chose to marry, share a life and raise a family. Her love for and unselfish dedication to her husband and children was her true hearts path. Unfortunately, and incredibly sadly, is that Louise was preceded in death by her husband Earle, 3 sons; Steven, Robert, John and, most painfully, her last child and the daughter she always wanted, Sue. Louise bore her sadness with a special fondness for all children. To know Louise was to know what a smile can bring. Her expressive character was smart, charming, comically flirtatious, and, laughingly, a bit sassy. It would be of no use to be guarded around Louise. She would disarm you with a twitch of her eyebrow, a sparkle in her eyes and a smile that would melt you. Louise is survived by her son Michael (Barb) Van Den Berg, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren and many wonderful nephews and nieces. A special thank you to Fr Tom Kovatch, IU Hospice and, in particular, hospice nurses Charmaine, Nancy, and Brenda. Thank you to the caring Garden Villa staff of the Hospice Wing at Garden Villa. And one very important and very special Thank You to Emma Matavuli who became a favorite part of Louise's life. In lieu of flowers please donate to a children's charity of your choice and smile at someone just for the good of it. A visitation for Louise will take place at Max A Sass Funeral Home in Greenfield WI on Saturday April 7th from 9:30 AM until time of services at 11:30 AM. Private Interment Arlington Park Cemetery.
