Louise, an 11 year resident of Layton Terrace, formerly resided in Greendale WI where she was an active participant in many organizations since 1957 and raised her family with her husband. Bob "Red" Downard, her partner of over 50 years preceded her in death in 1993. She graduated from Beaver Falls PA High School in 1939 and worked as a sales clerk at Murphys until her marriage to Red in 1942. Louise believed in giving of herself generously through her time and leadership. Over the years of her life she volunteered in scouting organizations, school activities, Greendale Community Church, Greendale Interfaith, and Greendale Golden Agers. Her volunteer activities led to the leadership position with the Golden Agers for over 20 years. Louise's gentle nature and sweet spirit will be missed by her family and all who knew her. After moving to Layton Terrace in 1999, Louise continued her giving by maintaining friendships in Greendale and participating in the activities of Layton Terrace. Louise was able to rest in comfort and peace during her last days due to the compassionate and loving care she and her family received from the staff at Layton Terrace and at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care. A celebration of Louise's life will be held at the Layton Terrace (9200 West Layton Avenue Greenfield, WI 53228) Trillium Room at 1 PM on Thursday, September 9th following a private family burial at Arlington Cemetery as arranged by the Greenridge Chapel of Max A.
