Louise Burzynski (nee Tackowiak) passed away on October 6, 2022 at the age of 96 in Hales Corners, WI.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, a retired Battalion Chief with the Milwaukee Fire
Department, their son, Paul, and her siblings Sylvia Tackowiak, Mary Ann (Dominick) Calabresa, Eugene
(Bernadine) Tackowiak, Valentine (Beverly) Tackowiak, and Bernadine (James) Knocke.
Louise is survived by her children, Ann (John) Imig of Greenfield, Mark (Adrienna Hines) Burzynski of
Montana, and Mary (Jack Gesell) Burzynski of Greenfield, three grandchildren, Paul (Maggie) Imig of
Franklin, Meg (Stephen) Keefe of Virginia, Cale Hines of Montana, four great grandchildren, Katie,
Liam, Claire, and Paul J. Louise is further survived by her sister, Magdalen (the late Edward) Canning of
Southport, CT, and many nieces and nephews.
Louise’s sister, Magdalen, shared that Louise was known to be the fulcrum, the peacemaker in their
large family, always providing balanced and sensible decisions that left all parties content. She
remained very shrewd at playing cards even to her last days. Louise knew when to call ‘em and when to
hold ‘em. During her long life, Louise remained consistently selfless, always concerned about others,
their time, their welfare, and their needs. Louise always acknowledged only the good qualities in others.
On behalf of her children, probably the most poignant way to remember, honor, and say goodbye to
Mom, would be through a Brian Andreas’ poem entitled “Remember” about a mother’s love:
During the times you feel
most alone, I want you
to remember this: I held
you & loved you from
the moment you came
into this world & that’s how
it’s always been for me &
if you forget, I am here
to remind you as many times
as you need.
With her heart silently running out of beats after 96 years of caring and love, our mom became reunited
in Heaven with our dad on October 6th, who she had missed dearly for 32 years. Our Mom helped us
become much better than we otherwise would have ever been for which we are most indebted and
grateful. Based on Mom’s faith in God, values, wisdom, and sense of humor, we hope we made her
proud and we hope we are extending her legacy as a mother and as a fellow human being. Mom was
thoughtful, compassionate, and kind, often reminding us of our responsibility to help others. Only on a
few rare occasions did we totally exhaust Mom’s patience, which on more than an occasion or two
made a difference for us with a totally exasperated father. All that needs to be said is that Mom was a
darn good mom that we will miss beyond estimation. Based on what we felt and witnessed, we trust
God, Our Father, welcomed Mom with open arms into Heaven. Please take care of Mom.
A private service was held per Louise’s wishes. Memorials may be sent to St.
Gregory the Great Church, 3160 South 63rd Street, Milwaukee, WI 53219.
