Lorraine Schuster, a beacon of joy and laughter, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on July 14, 1931, in Albany, NY, Lorraine was a devout Catholic and the cherished daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Kocher) Gassman.
Lorraine was the beloved wife of the late Robert Schuster, who preceded her in death in 2002. Together, they built a life filled with love, humor, and adventures. She was a devoted mother to her children, Eric Schuster, Sandy (Bob) Young, Mary Schuster, and Karen (Chris Emanuel) Schuster. She instilled in them her zest for life and her values of kindness and compassion. Her role as Grandma Rainey to Jenna, Nick, Zack, Jace, and Gisele, and as Great-Grandma Rainey to Caleb, Levi, and Micah, was one she cherished deeply. Lorraine's legacy of love also extends to her many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Known for her funny and sassy nature, Lorraine could light up a room with her quick wit and infectious laughter. Her love for good food, good drink and travel took her on many memorable journeys, both near and far, where she embraced the opportunity to shop and experience new things. Lorraine loved stuffed animals, which she shared with her grandchildren, a testament to her playful spirit and her desire to spread happiness.
A connoisseur of a well-crafted whiskey Manhattan, Lorraine enjoyed the finer things in life while always maintaining her down-to-earth charm. Her approach to life was spirited and full of love, which endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Lorraine's presence was a gift to her family and friends, and her laughter will echo in their hearts forever.
Lorraine's life was one of connection and warmth, and she will be deeply missed by all who were part of her journey. She now joins her parents, Leo and Mary Gassman, her husband, Robert, and her siblings, Shirley Mariani and Leo Gassman, in eternal rest.
We bid farewell to Lorraine Schuster, a remarkable woman whose legacy of joy and love will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Her spirit, forever funny, loving, and sassy, will never be forgotten. In accordance with Lorraine's wishes no services will be held at this time.
