Lois Jean Haase (Thorp) age 88 of Cudahy, WI passed away peacefully December 31st , 2024, surrounded by her family and caregivers. Born September 1st, 1936, to the late William and Ethel Thorp of Greendale, WI she was the oldest sister to her two siblings Arlene Lewandowski (Thorp) and Carol Ratkowski (Thorp).

Lois grew up in Greendale, WI where she met her husband Dave and became high school sweethearts, got married, and settled in Greenfield, WI to raise their family before moving to Crivitz, WI after retirement.Health issues brought them back to southeast WI where she spent the remaining time with her family.

Lois was a constant nurturer and stayed home to care for her 5 children. She was a cook, dishwasher, maid, taxi driver, and mentor to her family and always put them first to ensure they were safe, fed, and finished their schoolwork, despite resistance. This extended to her grandchildren also who were blessed with her smile, kindness and snacks.

We want to thank the Memory Care Unit at Franciscan Villa for almost 3 years of daily care and for treating her as if she was a member of their family. Lois’s face lit up when she saw the caregivers, which is a testament to the relationship they had developed and the trust she had in their care.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethel Thorp and her sister Arlene Lewandowski. Lois is survived by her husband of 66 years, Dave and her children Rich (Sandy), Barb Smith (Mike), Mike (Jane), Larry (Tina), Jim (Mandy), and her grandchildren Tyler, Jessica, Alicia, Taylor, William, and Isabelle and her sister Carol and other relatives and friends.
