LeRoy Robert Kamenick, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 11, 2024, in his native city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born on December 30, 1944, to Mathew and Rose Kamenick, LeRoy's journey began in a household that would eventually become bustling with the joys and challenges of a large family.
LeRoy's formative years were rooted in the values of hard work and education, as demonstrated by his successful graduation from Milwaukee Boys Tech. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, specifically in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War, where he developed a profound sense of duty and patriotism.
After his military service, LeRoy dedicated over 30 exciting years to the City of Milwaukee as a Port Worker. His unwavering devotion to his job was matched only by the love and commitment he proved to his family every day. He stood by his wife Doris (nee Doub) as her confidant and companion for 53 rich and loving years. Together, they raised a family that was full of life: their sons Todd (Kristine), the late Russell, and Wayne (Jeanna), who added joy and vigor to their household.
LeRoy, affectionately known as "Grumpa," took overwhelming pride in his grandchildren Hunter, Gavin, Halliegh and the late Jordan. His guidance, stories, and unique humor will be cherished memories that continue to warm their hearts. As a brother, LeRoy was protective and caring, sharing a special bond with Darlene (the late Roger) Brunn and Bonnie (Mike) Palm, as well as with each of his late siblings: Vernetta (George), Jerome (Carol), Gerald (the late Norma), Maryanne (Fred), Delcie (Dave), Margie (Herbert), and Roger (Joanne).
Fondly remembered by many, LeRoy's legacy extends beyond his immediate family to include a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous friends, all of whom felt the impact of his generous spirit and good-natured camaraderie.
LeRoy's life was a testament to the power of resilience, integrity, and an unfailing commitment to those he held dear. As he joins his beloved son Russell, grandson Jordan, and his siblings who have gone before him, those mourning his departure take solace in the knowledge that his was a life well-lived. LeRoy's soul has found rest, but his spirit endures in the many lives he touched and the immeasurable love he leaves behind.
