Leroy E. Peronto, age 82, of Milwaukee, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at the Village at Manor Park. He was born on November 24, 1923 to Stanley and Rosella Peronto. After serving in the army signal corps during WWII, Leroy returned to college to earn his bachelors and masters degrees in music education and administration. He taught in Pardeeville, Fox Point, Brookfield and Hales Corners and remained in Hales Corners until his retirement in 1984. Leroy taught sixth and seventh grade and developed the band program in the Whitnall School District, where he later became principal of Hales Corners Elementary School. He shared his talents as a musician during most of his life, playing accordion, keyboard and trombone for hundreds of concerts. He was a member of the State Fair Band, Milwaukee Bucks Band, and rode in the Great Circus Parade for many years. As conductor, Leroy led the West Allis Band and the Mothers Day Concerts at the Eagles Club. He is survived by his wife, Lillian; two children, Judith (Ted) Buenzli and Jeffrey (Lisa L.) Peronto; grandchildren, Bryan, Danielle, Adrienne, James, Amanda and Trevor; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Gawronski. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 3160 S. 63rd Street in Milwaukee on Saturday, March 11, 2006 at 10am. Visitation will be held before the service from 9 to 10 am. The family wishes to thank caregivers at the Village at Manor Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
