Leonard Edward Gruszecki was born on October 7, 1924 in Scranton, Pennsylvania and passed away in Denver, Colorado on March 4, 2010. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Leonard is a graduate of the Milwaukee Institute of Technology. He rose to the 32nd degree of Masonry and is a Past Master of Damascus Lodge No. 290 and Past Commander of Ivanhoe Commandery No. 24. Leonard also served as an advisor for Boy Scout Troop 201, Bay View Order of DeMolay, and coached little league baseball at Wilson Park. He retired after 35 years from Universal Foods, the former Red Star Yeast plant in Milwaukee. He is survived by his wife Cecelia and sons Lawrence (Deborah) and Gary (Paige), and grandson Paul. He was preceded in death by brothers Wilhelm, Anthony, and Joseph, and sisters Frances, Stella, Mary, Sophie, Josephine, and Helen. He will be laid to rest at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI at 12PM on March 11, 2010 preceded by visitation and Masonic Memorial Service (10AM) at Sass Funeral Home, 4747 S. 60th St., Greenfield, WI 53220, from 9 to 11AM. A memorial service will be conducted at St. Peter and Paul Polish National Catholic Church in South Milwaukee on March 12, 2010 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may wish may to make donations to the following Masonic Organizations: Wisconsin Masonic Home (262-965-2200), Masonic Learning Centers for Children (800-814-1432 X3326), or Shriners Hospitals for Children (download form at www.shrinershq.org/hospitals/Main).
