Larry G. Paar

Larry G. Paar, a beloved figure in the community and cherished family member, passed away on January 18, 2025, at the age of 84, in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Born on September 25, 1940, in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, Larry dedicated his life to service, family, and music. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness and the deep love he had for his family.

Larry's notable career spanned 31 years with the Milwaukee Police Department, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant before retiring in 1995. His commitment to public service and safety earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike. In addition to his service within the police department, Larry proudly served as a member of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1962.

Educated at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Larry earned a Bachelor of Science degree, further showcasing his dedication to personal growth and education. He enjoyed sharing his knowledge and experiences with others, leaving a lasting impact on those he encountered.

At home, Larry was a loving husband to Joan for over 60 years. Together, they created a warm and welcoming environment, hosting annual Christmas Eve parties that became treasured gatherings for family and friends. These lively celebrations were filled with music, food, and laughter, often carrying on into the early hours of Christmas Day—a testament to the joy and love that Larry cultivated in his home.

Larry embraced life with a spirit full of enthusiasm; he loved spending Sunday afternoons watching the Green Bay Packers, sharing the highs and lows of the games with his family. A true aficionado of Country and Western music, he found solace and joy in the sounds of Waylon Jennings, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash, often sharing these cherished tunes with those around him.

In addition to his wife Joan, Larry is survived by his two sons, Mark and Randy, who carry on his legacy of love and compassion. He is predeceased by his mother, Minnie Paar; father, Jerdy Paar; brother, Jerry Paar; brother, Roger Paar; and sister, Donna Hagen.

Larry's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His contributions to his family, profession, and community will be fondly remembered and celebrated for years to come.
