Halaska, Kathleen M. "Kay" (Nee Zahn) Born August 20, 1920. On Saturday November 26, 2011 at the age of 91, we said goodbye to our beautiful mother who passed away surrounded by family and joined her late husband, John F. Halaska. Precious mother of Joanne (Michael) McSweeney, John (Barbara) Halaska, Gail (Gregory) Meyer and Beverly (William) Seiden. Special grandmother of Merv, David, Jill, Jodi and the late Tommy, Steve, Joel, Michael, Debbie, Jeff, Kathy, Doug, Suzzie, Kathleen and Tony. Sweet great grandmother of 21 1/2. Cherished sister of George (the late Joan) and the late William (Dorothy) Zahn. Special sister-in-law of Emily Melton and June (Stanley) Wilkins. Loving "mother" to JoLynn and Joyce. Further survived by many friends, relatives and neighbors whose lives she touched. Kay was blessed with a heart of gold. She had a gift of always seeing the best in people. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and made everyone feel special. She could make any dark day seem brighter with her words of wisdom, written and spoken. We are all better people having known her and been loved by her. She will remain in our hearts forever. Her faith in God gave her strength to overcome any challenge in her life. A special thanks to Joanne and Mike for their home hospice care, and the staff from Vitas Innovative Hospice Care. And to Dr. Ricardo Li who gave her 10 more years. Visitation at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community (9520 W. Forest Home Ave.) Monday November 28, 2011 from 9:30 - 10:45 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM. Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
