Karen Giuffre passed away peacefully on April 1, 2024, at the age of 80 years, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children, Frank Jr. (Jennifer) and Nicholette; brother Bobby (Susan); grandchildren Frankie, Brandon, Bennett, Sydney, Carson, Hailey (Jaelin), and great-grandson Walker; cousin Sally; and cherished friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Florence Masiak and husband Frank. Her family extends its deepest thanks to her caregivers over the years, including Janice and, until the very end of her life, Judith and Jen.
Born in Menominee, Michigan, Karen moved with her family to Milwaukee as a young girl. She graduated from Cudahy High School in 1961 and started work at the Allen-Bradley factory. After marrying her high-school sweetheart Frank, she had Frank Jr. and started the family she would love for the rest of her life. As Karen worked alongside Frank, playing a crucial role in the growth of his businesses, her dedication to those around her was unmatched--yet she never forgot how to have a good time.
Karen was brave as she faced repeated health obstacles over the years. Through challenge after challenge, she not only persisted but seemed to come back with greater desire to live life with positivity. Whether reading her historical fiction novels, crocheting blankets for all the grandchildren, or taking weekly piano lessons well into her seventies, she never quit doing the things she loved.
Most important to Karen, though, was her family. She put the needs of everyone else above her own, and her heart was filled when she was with her children and, especially, her grandchildren. She created wonderful memories of crowded holiday dinners, sleepovers at Grandma's house, and her homemade spaghetti and meatballs with enough leftovers for everyone.
Karen will be deeply missed by the many whose lives she touched. As she rests peacefully with the Lord, free of physical pain and suffering, may we honor her memory by treating one another with kindness. In Karen's memory, consider a gift to her favorite charities the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the ASPCA.
