We are sad to announce the passing of Judith Jasna, cherished wife of the late Robert Jasna and much loved mother of Kirsten (Peirce Clayton) and Erica (Craig Struble), and feisty cardplaying grandy to Eli, Sylvie, Parker, and Larkin. And we can’t forget our Australian brother, David, who found a mom far from home in Judy.
Judy was born to Stanley and Isabel in Milwaukee and always lived on the south side. She was the oldest of three girls and her sisters - Kay and Mary - survive her. She was a proud graduate of Pulaski High School and UW Milwaukee. Starting in high school, Judy frequented Leon’s-one of her favorite places to grab a meal (hot dog with mustard, small root beer, 1 dip butter pecan cone). Family lore has her starting her teaching career in TX and even teaching where she went to elementary school... Judy retired as a reading specialist at Kosciuszko Middle School and she enjoyed her students and fellow teachers. Once Bob retired, they split their time between Milwaukee (later Franklin), Up North at Pinederosa- the log home haven, and winters in Estero, FL. A consummate armchair athlete, Judy enjoyed the Brewers, the Bucks, the Badgers, and the Packers. She always knew how her teams were doing. We must add that Judy and Bob were bocce ball champions at least twice during their Florida winters! They were called The Leftovers because no one chose them for their team.
Judy also loved playing cards and she played bridge with her Bay View friends for years. Her daughters have fond memories of bridge night at the Jasna house, waking up the next day to see who won the prize. She also loved playing rummy with the grandkids - and she usually won. Judy loved to knit and made beautiful sweaters for her grandkids and even sewed outfits (matching) for her daughters when they were young. Judy shared Bob’s love of shopping and getting a bargain, too.
There is so much to say about Judy’s life and not enough room or time to get it all down. Suffice it to say she lived a long, happy life and she enjoyed herself immensely. She’s back with Bob, the love of her life.
We want to especially thank Alice Warren for being her BFF and breakfast companion, Ken Warren for helping with basic chores and bringing Buddy to visit, Cousin Jenni for everything, Eva and Dani for being the friendliest of friendly at First Watch, Leon’s hot dogs and butter pecan custard, the caregivers at Hales Corners Care Center, and the staff at Ascension Hospital.
Details of a late spring gathering will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
