Torres-Conde, Juan De Dios Passed away in peace after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, April 18, 2011 with the same infectious smile he always displayed at the age of 17. Juan was born on December 23, 1993 in Veracruz, Mexico to his surviving Mom Reyna Torres-Conde. Juan, a junior at Messmer High School always looked at his education and studies as very important. He enjoyed school with a passion and inspired his peers along with the faculty and staff. Juan frequented Saturday school to work on his homework or to seek tutoring. Every Saturday he would gather with a small group of students assisting his friends and peers in subject areas he was strong and seeking assistance from them in areas he needed help. Juan was known for his authentic cricket calls and was appropriately nicknamed cricket by many who knew him. Juan was training for a high school triathlon last summer when he was diagnosed with bone cancer. He loved soccer and planned on becoming a pilot someday. His latest hobby was flying radio controlled planes and enjoyed the prospects of always flying one last time. Two virtues that best describe this young man are courage and wisdom. Juan met every turn and bump in his journey of life with strength, poise and grace. The insights he shared continue to encourage those who knew him. It is difficult to remember an instance when Juan didn't have a smile that brightened the day or when he shared a kind word with others. His infectious smile and his unique sense of humor never failed him. Along with his Mom Juan is also survived by his Dad Raul Uscanga. He also leaves behind his Grandma Reyna Conde, aunts Francisca and Norma Torres-Conde, uncles Eribel, Joel, Vincente Torres-Conde all of Veracruz, Mexico and his cousin Manuel. Juan also leaves behind many family and friends in Veracruz, Mexico and Milwaukee. The family gives thanks to all who supported Juan and the family along this difficult journey with special recognition to everyone at Children's Hospital, Zilber Family Hospice in Wauwatosa and Messmer High School. Visitation at the Funeral Home, Tuesday, April 19th from 4-7 PM and also on April 20th from 10-11 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 2100 W Mitchell St. A Mass in Spanish will follow at 11 am.
