Joyce Schmidt

Joyce Schmidt, 88, joined God and our dear dad, Bob, on a winning Packer Sunday, November 17, 2024. Joyce was a lover of life and people; she was joie de vivre. Absolutely beloved mom of Lori Lutze (Mike), Bob (Victoria) & Bill (Renee). Adored grandma of Alex, Hunter, Taylor, Harry, Jack & Julia. Favorite aunt of Linda, Lisa & Laura. Joyce had a special talent for making friends and spending time with them. She grew up in Kiel, Wisconsin where she was crowned Homecoming Queen and attended every class reunion. She was an Alice in Dairyland Princess, traveling Wisconsin doing PR before graduating from UW-Milwaukee. Joyce’s Lambda Phi Chi sorority pals socialized for decades at their monthly Bridge Club; they just had too much fun to ever learn how to play the game. Joyce and Bob spent all their years surrounded by a wonderful community of fun friends from Greendale’s St. Alphonsus, the Village Club, Tuckaway CC and Breckenridge of Estero, Florida. Joyce was a fine jewel who spent her career selling fine jewels. She enjoyed tennis, golf, bocce, choir, mahjong, book club and wouldn’t think of missing any social events! Joyce considered herself a coach of the Packers, Brewers and Badgers; we will miss her spirited commentary during every game. Joyce’s optimism enabled her to easily enjoy all the simple pleasures of life. Her personality and antics even inspired a soon-to-be bestseller called Escape to Joyceland. 

We will celebrate all things Joyce on Friday, December 6, 2024 at St. Alphonsus Parish, 6060 W. Loomis Road, Greendale; mingle from 10-10:45 a.m.; funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Cheerful attire welcome.
