Lemiesz, Joseph. J. Joseph was reunited with his beloved wife Eunice in Heaven on October 7, 2012. Loving father of Sandra and dear father in law of Kevin Helinski. Survived by nieces Shelley (Neil) Casey and Diane (Barry) Griest, nephew and Godson Russell (Kiara) Gamsky and nephews Gordon (Kathy) and Alan (Sharon) Haberman. "Great Uncle Joe" to Sarah Griest, Julie (Troy) Osmus and the late Andrea Haberman. Survived by childhood friend Clifford Szukalski and special friends Christe Banach and Ken Struck. Joseph was know as "Joe the Barber" having served the 13th and Lincoln neighborhood for many years in his father's trade. He was fortunate to have retired from Northwestern Mutual Life where he loved his job and coworkers. Joseph served honorably during WWII in the Yankee Division Headquarters Battery, 101st Field Artillery Battalion, 26th Infantry. His sense of duty was exemplified by his love of family, faith and country. He never missed attending mass while serving overseas. Joseph enjoyed being a church usher on Saturday evenings, know for his friendly ways and notable neckties. He was an accomplished accordion player and excellent marksman. His vocal talents earned him two state titles in the singing of the Ave Maria. He will be deeply missed by many. He was the best father a daughter could have been blessed with. The deepest gratitude is extended to Dr. Jacob Frick for his compassionate, enlightened care. Joseph looked forward to his visits with "the boss" and his wonderful staff at Oncology Alliance St. Luke's. Special thanks to Connie and Julie. The entire VNA Hospice Team, at home and at Zilber Family Hospice is living proof that angels exist on earth. Thank you to all who cared for Joseph and his family in our greatest times of need. Your wisdom and kindness are immeasurable. Visitation will be at the MAX A. SASS & SONS Greenridge Chapel on Wednesday October 10 from 4-8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Blessed Sacrament Church (4005 W. Oklahoma Ave.) on Thursday October 11 at 10:30 AM. Please meet at the church for the Mass. Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Joseph's name to Zilber Family Hospice or Disabled American Veterans. "God Bless, Dad-Sleepy Good"
