Joseph P. Hassman

Joseph Paul Hassman (69) passed away on March 2nd, 2025.

Born on September 27th 1955 in Milwaukee, WI to Frances and Joseph Hassman. Preceded in death by his parents and sister Lynn.

Devoted and caring husband of Betty for 46 years. Loving father of Paul (Chelsea) and Patrick. Proud new grandpa to Theo.

Survived by siblings Dan (Franciene), Larry, Lee (Dale) and brother-in-law Gary. Godfather of John and Amy.

Fond brother-in-law of Jim (Marla), Mary and Bob (Marge).

Beloved uncle of Danie (Dan), Monique (Scott), Amy (Curt), Tommy, Julie (Cory), John (Heather), and the late Ryan (Cori).

Special great-uncle of Miette, Wren, Bella, Lily, Violet, Ivy and Oakley.

Joe will be sadly missed by many other relatives, neighbors and friends.

Joseph spent his professional life working in grocery stores. First, at Kohl’s and eventually as a salesman for food distributorships. He took great pride in his work and providing for his family.

Joe loved spending time outdoors with family and friends, on camping trips and in the northwoods. He enjoyed grilling, campfires, fishing, securing firewood, hiking and watching wildlife.

Joe loved sports of all kinds. In his early years as a participant and later as a spectator. Despite being perpetually pessimistic about our local teams’ chances, he loved to follow them. He had the utmost interest in local high school sports, spending hours analysing stats and streaming several local games simultaneously.

Joe’s impact will be most remembered in how humorous, thoughtful and loving he was. Despite his numerous health challenges, he never missed an opportunity to make a “dad” comment or try to make someone laugh. Joe was constantly thinking about ways to brighten his loved ones’ days with words or gifts making sure everyone felt loved. Joe always put the needs of his loved ones ahead of his own and his family is forever grateful.

Joe’s family is thankful for the excellent care he received through the years from his primary doctor, Jeffrey Aldred and staff; in addition to the medical professionals during his last weeks in the hospital.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 3rd in the morning at the funeral home. More details will follow.
