John E. Tice, known affectionately as John to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at the age of 79. Born in Milwaukee on August 4, 1945, John grew up to live a life marked by service, humor, and deep affection for those around him. He was a loving husband, stepfather, brother, grandfather and uncle, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication.

John's commitment to his country was evident early on as he served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. His experiences shaped a man who was both thoughtful and resilient. After his military service, John continued to serve his community in a different capacity, retiring from the Northshore division as a 911 dispatcher. His voice became a beacon of hope and calm in times of distress, a role he embraced with the utmost seriousness and compassion.

For 32 years, John shared his life with his beloved wife, Dianne Tice. Their partnership was one of mutual support, laughter, and love. Together they navigated the complexities of life, always finding strength in each other. John was a cherished stepfather to Tanya Mamula and John (Andrea Mueller) Mamula. His guidance and humor were pivotal in their lives, and the bond they shared was unbreakable. His brother, David Tice, and his wife, Ann, knew John as a pillar of strength and a source of endless jokes.

John's interests were a reflection of his personality—meticulous, adventurous, and always aiming for the skies. His love for model railroading and airplane models was more than a hobby; it was a passion that allowed him to connect with others and share his knowledge and enthusiasm. Traveling was another joy for John, providing him with endless stories to share and memories to cherish.

Described by those who knew him as thoughtful, funny, and loving, John had a unique ability to find humor in life's everyday moments. His laughter was infectious, his advice was sought after, and his presence was a comfort. John's thoughtfulness could be seen in the small acts of kindness he showed to everyone around him. He had a knack for making people feel loved and valued, a trait that endeared him to many.

John's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him. Yet, his spirit—a blend of warmth, wit, and tenderness—will continue to live on in the memories he created with his family and friends. John E. Tice's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and service, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As we say goodbye to John, we celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind. His legacy will be carried forward through the stories told, the models built, and the lives he touched. John's journey may have come to a peaceful end, but the impressions he left on this world will never fade.
