John Robert Pilot, a cherished soul known for his larger-than-life personality and boundless love for his family, passed away unexpectedly at home in his sleep on September 5, 2024, in Muskego, Wisconsin. Born on February 12, 1955, in Wisconsin, John's journey through life was marked by devotion, joy, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures life had to offer.
John's life was a testament to love and commitment. He had an unwavering devotion to his 44-year marriage to his dear wife, Margaret Pilot. Together, they built a family foundation that was straight forward, loving, and honest. He was a loving father to Ann (James) Doerner and Ellen Pilot, and the excitement of becoming a proud grandfather to a little girl expected in November 2024 brought him immense joy. His beloved pets, Spooky and Jasmine, were also a source of happiness and companionship throughout his life.
John's family circle extended to his cherished sister, Sandi (Dale) Davidson, and he held a special place in his heart for his sister-in-law, Kitty (Dave) Pautz. He was a special uncle to Shawn Wulf, Bobbi Jo Pilot, Nicole Gaudynski, Kimberly Seif, Heather Pilot, Joel Pilot, Christopher Davidson, Adam Davidson, Katie Pautz, and Becky Kennedy, sharing with them his love for life and the great outdoors. John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rita Pilot, his siblings Bud Pilot and Terry Hirthe, and his nieces and nephews Jodi, Kaylee, Michelle, Tina, Destinee, and Bryan.
A proud graduate of Muskego High School in 1973, John's work ethic and dedication were evident throughout his career. He retired after many years of dedicated service as a material handler crane operator, where his colleagues respected him for his reliability and good-natured spirit.
John's interests painted the picture of a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and vigor. He loved spending time with his family, whether it was sharing stories, watching movies about submarines, or simply enjoying each other's company. An avid sportsman, John found peace and excitement in hunting and fishing, often accompanied by family members who shared his passion. He was passionate about football and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. His love for animals was pure and unwavering, and he could often be found in the company of his pets or enjoying the beauty of nature.
John's storytelling was legendary; he had a unique ability to captivate his audience, whether he was recounting a thrilling hunting adventure or putting his own spin on local urban legends. His stories will be remembered and retold, keeping his spirit alive in the hearts of those who loved him.
John Robert Pilot lived a life full of love, laughter, and the joy of shared experiences. His passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his legacy of warmth, kindness, and a zest for life will continue to inspire and comfort his family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to gather to celebrate his life on Friday, September 27, 2024 from 10-11:45 AM at St. Leonard Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon.
