John Paul Jones passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 30, 2024, in Wauwatosa, WI. Born on June 16, 1929, in Elgin, IL, John's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of generosity and love that touched all who knew him.
John's early years were spent in the halls of Elgin High School, where he cultivated a foundation of knowledge and character that would guide him throughout his life. Upon graduation, he bravely served his country for four years in the Navy during the Korean War, an experience that would shape his sense of duty and commitment to others.
Following his military service, John returned to his roots in Illinois. He a was a steadfast pillar of his Elgin community, as a member of several organizations such as The Jaycees, Elk’s club, and the Lion’s club. John began a long and dedicated career as a personal safety manager at several foundries in both IL and WI. His work ethic and concern for the well-being of his coworkers earned him the respect and friendship of many in the industry. After retiring, John continued to serve his community as a custodian at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin.
John's life was one of joy and laughter, hallmarked by his love for being in the sun, tending to his garden, and spending precious time with his family. He had a gift for reminiscing and telling stories that would captivate and entertain, leaving listeners with smiles and cherished memories.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Catherine Jones and a loving father to his children. John was preceded in death by his youngest child, Margaret Jones, and his grandchild, Jack Halverson. He is survived by his son, Chris (Kerry) Jones, and their family, Miles (Katie Thurow) Jones and Mac Jones; his daughter, Mary (Craig) Halverson, and their family, Brianne (Brandon Eichmeier) Halverson and Nate (Becky Krzycki) Halverson; his cherished great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jack, and Milo; and his sister, Bonnie Childs, who will all remember him for his kind spirit and loving nature.
John's legacy is one of laughter and love, a man who was as funny as he was spirited. His kind-heartedness and the joy he brought to others will be the treasures cherished by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
As we bid farewell to John Paul Jones, we reflect on a life lived to the fullest, marked by an enduring kindness that will continue to inspire. His was a life that exemplified the beauty of simplicity, the strength of character, and the warmth of a life shared generously with others. John will be dearly missed, but the light of his spirit will continue to guide and comfort those he leaves behind.
