John M. Kavajecz

John M. Kavajecz passed away peacefully on October 29, 2021, at the age of 92 with family by his side. John was born in Angleton, Texas on May 9, 1929, to John and Pauline (Duch) Kavajecz. John grew up farming in Orienta and was one of nine children. He married Joane Erickson, the love of his life and best friend, on Feb. 8, 1958, in Herbster, Wisconsin. They recently celebrated 63 years of marriage. John was a long-time employee of Harnischfeger Corporation (Joy Global, Inc.). He loved gardening, the outdoors, deer hunting, and especially his family. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren, and considered them his greatest success. After marrying, John and Joane moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where they worked and raised their family. John is survived by his wife, Joane Kavajecz, Muskego, WI; three children, Lisa K. (Steven) Mayer, Luxemburg, WI; Kurt J. (Susan) Kavajecz, Trempealeau, WI; and Mark O. Kavajecz, Carlotta, CA; six grandchildren, Erik Mayer, Dallas, TX; Kaitlyn (Ian) McQuistion, Washington, D.C.; Kourtney (Alex) Hoff, Stewartville, MN; Samantha Kavajecz, Janesville, WI; Karly Kavajecz, Hydesville, CA, Kara Kavajecz, Phoenix, AZ; and one great-grandson, Arthur Hoff, Stewartville, MN. He is also survived by his sister Barbara Estrella, and brothers Cecil, Theodore, and Lee. John was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Christine Udelhofen, Leonard Kavajecz, Mary Bailey, and Pauline Rothenbueler. John will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family is grateful to the Tudor Oaks Senior Living Community staff for their compassionate and caring support of John over the past few months. We cannot thank them enough. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday May 20, 2022 at the Herbster Historic Gymnasium (86870 Lenawee Rd, Herbster, WI) at 2PM. Meal and refreshments to follow the service.
