Mortonson, John Fritz Age 74. Passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 3, 2013. John was born and raised in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin by Morton and Norma Mortonson and grew up with his sister Penny and brother Thomas (Ann) Mortonson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister. John was a wonderful father to his three children, Jeffrey Mortonson, Jill LeDoux and James (Jennifer) Mortonson and we will miss him dearly. His 5 grandchildren, Candice (Neal) Spak, Andrew and Jack LeDoux, David and Thomas Mortonson and 1 great-grandchild, Chloe Spak, were all blessed to have been able to have John as a part of their lives. We are all saddened that he will no longer be able to provide advice to us on all of the challenges life provides but the lessons he taught all of us will live on forever. John was a longtime resident of Greendale, Wisconsin, where he taught 5th grade and later served as the longtime principal at Highland View Elementary School. In his career in education John was able to touch the lives of many children and made many lifelong friends along the way. He was well known and well respected in the community and he will be missed. The family would especially like to thank the caring staff at Golden Living Center - Heritage Square where John spent the last year of his life. He touched the lives of many of the staff people who cared for him and they, in turn, touched his life and made him always feel comfortable. For that we will always be grateful. In honor of John, we will be holding a visitation in his memory at the Max A. Sass & Sons Greenridge Chapel, on Thursday, June 6, 2013, from 4PM to 7PM. Please join us to pay respect to and reminisce about John. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Greendale Education Foundation, Inc. (6815 Southway, Greendale, WI 53129) would be greatly appreciated.
