John “Bo” Gibson, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2024, at 89. Born on December 7, 1934, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, John was known for his humor, friendliness, and lively spirit, which made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
John had a deep love for music. He spent years as a dedicated member of many barbershop quartets, including The Fanfares, Sound Gallery, Shear Delight and Easy Days. He was also a member of the barbershop chorus, Midwest Vocal Express. His love for singing and his harmonious voice brought joy to so many and created lifelong friendships within the music community.
He also had a passion for golf, spending hours on the course, perfecting his swing, and enjoying the game with friends. Whether he was sinking a great shot or just soaking up the sun, golf was a big source of joy for him.
John is survived by his daughters, Julie Gibson and Amy (Alan) Arber, and was a proud grandfather to Samantha Kelly, Karly Mutranowski, and Dex Mutranowski. He was happy to welcome his great-granddaughters, Juniper and Winter Kelly, and enjoyed hearing about their adventures as they grew.
John's life was all about laughter, kindness, and sharing the gift of music. He had a knack for lighting up any room with his humor and never missed a chance to share a funny story. He made friends wherever he went, and those who knew him will always remember his lively conversations and positive energy.
From John’s early days in Green Bay, time at Marquette University, to his final years, he welcomed life's adventures with open arms. His family will always remember him as someone who lived life to the fullest and laughed often.
As we say goodbye to John “Bo” Gibson, we celebrate a life filled with optimism and a life that demonstrated his belief that music has the power to transform us all for the better. His journey through life was a testament to the power of positivity, and he will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
