Herr, John A. Died on November 16, 2010 at the age of 75 after a long and difficult struggle with heart disease. Loving husband and best friend of Virginia "Ginny". Cherished dad of Jennifer (Mike) who was the joy of his life. Preceded in death by mom Delores, dad John and sister Dee. Survived by brother Tom (Kathe) and Mike. Also survived by nieces Brenda, Patricia (John), Kathy, Alyssa, Samantha, Paige, Nikki, Ashley and Maile; nephews Michael (Mary), Chris (Jess), Don, Ted, David (Liz), John-Michael, and Trevor. Honored to be called "Dad" by Keona, Marlon and Marlo Dickens. Extended family includes the Barbara Garth and Kathleen Kyle families. John served in the US Army in the early '50's and attained the rank of Sgt. Afterwards he was a skilled sheet metal worker for many years and spent 12 years as a business agent for the Sheet Metal Workers Local 18. He presided as President of Local 18 Retiree's Club for 14 years. He remained a strong advocate for all the working men and women in the building trades his entire life. He loved working on old cars, especially his Corvettes, Camaros and '53 Chevy Pickup which he built from the ground up. We have many fine memories of 4th of July parades and gatherings at our home. He is in heaven now with all his family who went before him. He is surrounded by all his Golden Retrievers; Snuffy, Prince, Buffy, Lilly and Echo. He was a good, caring and generous man to all those who knew him. He will be missed by all. Memorial Visitation on Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the MAX A. SASS & SONS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL with a Memorial Service at 8 PM. Private interment at St. Adalbert Cemetery. "No more pain, John. Rest easy now"
