Joel J. Swieciak

Joel J. Swieciak, a creative, gentle, and loving soul, passed away on November 5, 2023. Born on May 24, 1989, in Milwaukee, Joel left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.


Joel was the beloved son of Mary (Dave) Zumstein and the late Luke Swieciak. As a brother, he was a pillar of strength and compassion to Steven, Thomas (Sheila), and Rachel. He was a doting godfather and uncle to Tavra, and cherished grandson of the late Richard "Mickey" and the late Marge Polsen. His love for music and compassion were the adhesive that bound his family together.


A proud 2007 graduate of Franklin High School, Joel continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he attained a Bachelor's degree.


Joel's professional life was marked by a strong sense of duty and responsibility. As a CSO at the Milwaukee Police Department and Supervisor at Northwestern Mutual he was known for his commitment and dedication.


Beyond his professional achievements, Joel was a gifted musician. His talent shone bright as he played the trumpet, guitar, and piano with consummate skill. As the lead singer of The Daytrippers, his captivating performances left audiences in awe. His passion for music was contagious, inspiring many around him to appreciate and explore the art form.


Joel was also a video game enthusiast. His love for the virtual world was not just about escapism, but about problem-solving, strategizing, and storytelling.


He touched many lives with his kindness, gentleness, and love. His radiant smile and infectious laughter had a way of lifting spirits, making him a beacon of positivity in the lives of those around him.


Joel was a man of many talents, a true friend and a loving family member. His life, though cut short, was a testament to the power of love, creativity, and dedication. He will be deeply missed but his legacy will live on.


Visitation Wednesday November 8, 2023 from 11 am until 1 pm with a prayer service at 1 pm at the Max A. Sass & Sons Mission Hills Chapel. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, memorials to Tunnel to Towers or the Franklin Music Department appreciated.
