Jo Anne D. Carter-Hauser

BROWN DEER - Found Eternal Peace August 12, 2024 at the age of 72 years old. Beloved wife of John “Jack" Hauser for 23 years. Loving mother of Tamara Jones (nee Richardson) (Raphael) and late son James Richardson III. Caring grandmother of Davion Richardson (Laytee), Bria Smith and great grandmother of Ry’lei Staples. Cherished sister of Judith “Judy" Carter, Deidre "Dee Dee" Carter, and Susan Joyce Williams (Terry). She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Carter and mother Helen Omega Carter. Further survived by loving relatives, dear friends and neighbors.

Jo Anne was born on May 16, 1952 to the union of Joseph and Helen Carter. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. Later in life she attended and graduated from Cardinal Stritch University with Bachelor and Masters degrees. Jo Anne met Jack at Cardinal Stritch as they were both preparing second careers in education. Jo Anne taught at John Muir Middle School, Cardinal Stritch University, and Messmer Catholic Schools. Traveling, camping, fishing in Lake Superior, gardening, spending time with family, especially the grandchildren when they were young, and knitting were her greatest pleasures and loves. Dingo her Yorkie was always a ray of joy for Jo Anne. One of Jo Anne’s greatest gifts was her love of diversity in people, culture, and faith. Her travels took her to every corner of Wisconsin. World travel took her to Canada, Cameroon, Africa, and eight visits to Europe. Jo Anne’s faith community at Congregation of the Great Spirit was very important to her. She volunteered at the parish pantry and welcomed the many guests who came for food and clothing. Becoming a drummer for the Mass and other prayerful events was a great honor. When Jo Anne stated she couldn’t cook, actually her fried catfish was tops, she was given the task of arranging flower vases for the tables for potlucks and various celebrations at church. For that she earned the nickname FTD. She also volunteered serving guests at the St. Ben’s Meal Program for many years.

In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to the Congregation of the Great Spirit Food Pantry where Jo Anne volunteered weekly or the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
