Jerome Laabs

Jerome "Jerry" Laabs of Franklin, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Marian F. Laabs for 72 years. Devoted father to Cathy, Cindy (Jim), Jerry (Molly), Jim (Pam), Rich (Laura) and Julie (Greg). Adoring grandfather to Kelly, Tiffany, Eric (Kate), Alex, Amanda (Marshall), Noah, Max and loving great-grandfather to Bella, Anthony and Tyson. Also loved and survived by other family and many friends.

Memorial gathering at the Brenwood Park Senior Apartments community room (9501 W Loomis Rd, Franklin) on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 2 PM until the celebration of life at 5 PM.

Back in 1949, two friends set up a boy (17) and a girl (14) on a blind date. Three years later, that same boy and girl married. Together they have 6 beautiful children. Though they didn’t have a lot of money, there was a lot of love in the family. Years go by, the children marry and the family grows with grandchildren and great grandchildren. Many more years go by and the girl (90) becomes sick and soon dies. The boy’s heart shatters into a million pieces. He is lost and lonely without the love of his life by his side. After 9 months and 16 days, the boy (93) no longer could be without her. On March 10, 2025, the boy and girl were reunited and now are together for eternity.

Moral: Though it’s a once in a lifetime occurrence, fairy tale love stories do exist.

Thank you, Mom and Dad, for allowing us to watch this love story before our very eyes.
