Jeanette "Jean" Zuehlke

Zuehlke, Jeanette "Jean" (nee Treuer) was born to Eternal Life on July 14, 2018 at the age of 79 years. Jean passed away quickly and peacefully on Saturday evening, surrounded by friends and family, following a brief illness associated with comlications of multiple sclerosis. Preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Roy C. Zuehlke (passed away February 2013). Beloved and caring mother of Mark (Marilyn) Zuehlke and Merri (Robert) Schmidt. Loving grandmother of Eric Schmidt, David (Kate) Schmidt, and Michelle Zuehlke. Dear sister of Diane (Jim) McGaw, Ronnie (Diane) Treuer, the late Eddie (Arlene) Treuer, Donald Treuer, and Charles Treuer. Further survived by other close family and friends, and colleagues at the Sheboygan Society of Scale Model Railroad Engineers (SSSMRE). Visitation on Saturday, July 21, 10:00AM until 11:00AM at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Chimes. 13235 W. Capitol Dr. Brookfield. Funeral service at 11:00AM. Entombment private. The family would like to thank Tender Hearts Senior Care Sheboygan for many years of loving care for their mom. Jean was well-loved and admired by all who crossed her path, not least for her relentless positive spirit in the face of chronic illness. She never failed to downplay concerns about her own physical health. Rather, she prioritized the well-being of her family members, and would always say that "If everyone else is happy, then I'm happy." She will be remembered for her generous hospitality at "the farm" in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Her hospitality was shared with her family, friends, and everyone she met. In the final decade of her life, Jean's multiple sclerosis began a more rapid progression with increased disability. But in typical "Jean" fashion, she adjusted with grace and determination. Indeed, she preferred to look back in gratitude at the nearly 40 years of physical activity and productivity that she enjoyed following her diagnosis in 1966. At the very end of her life, she told family that she had enjoyed a good life-and she meant it. Finally, Jean found immense inspiration and comfort in her Catholic faith. She never ceased to remind other people that she was praying for them. It is no stretch to say that jean saw non-stop intercessory prayer (on behalf of family, friends or the poor) as nothing short of a vocation. Jean is no doubt looking down upon her family now. We trust she is learning from her Creator how much power her decades of prayer truly had on the lives of those she loved.
