Jean Vogel Burke Milwaukee - Jean Vogel Burke was born in Sturgeon Bay on April 9, 1937 and died in Milwaukee on November 30, 2020. Each life is more than a name and dates, and Jean lived hers in vibrant color. After leaving the farm in Southern Door where she grew up, she met her husband Bob while working for airlines in Cleveland, Ohio. They settled in the Milwaukee area and welcomed three children into their family. Their family pursuits included various decorating and upholstery businesses as the family's creativity could not be contained in one small house. Jean could get lost anywhere, was never able to find her glasses except with assistance, and had a laugh that sometimes seemed to take her by surprise. Jean also has the distinction among her family and friends of being hit in her car by a train, walking away without a bruise, and retelling the story over and over. As one can only imagine with such a life, she will be frequently talked about by and live in the memories of her family members; daughter Deb Smith, son-in-law Jay Smith, brother Dale Vogel, sister-in-law Jeanne Wiese Vogel, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Predeceased by husband Bob, sons Brian & Kelly Burke, parents George and Myrtle Vogel. Memorial gifts may be made to Wisconsin Humane Society. Private interment at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
