Jean Ann Stonek (née Langosch), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. Born in Evanston, IL, Jean was raised in Cudahy, WI, and later lived in Greendale, WI, before making her home on Tichigan Lake in Waterford, WI.
She was the devoted wife of Dale for 55 years, a loving mother to Shannon, Eric, and Kevin, and a cherished grandmother to JJ and Dawson Rubenbauer. Jean also held a special place in her heart for her step-granddaughter, Alexa Johnson, and her children.
Jean is further survived by her brothers, Larry (Jeri) Langosch and Terry Langosch, her sister-in-law Val Stonek, her brother-in-law Don (Mary Jo) Stonek, and many treasured nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jean had a remarkable ability to connect with people, a gift she valued throughout her life. Before retiring, she worked for over 25 years at the Wisconsin State Fair, where she enjoyed sharing stories from her time there. Prior to her work at the State Fair, Jean worked in appointment services at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where she built lasting relationships with both colleagues and those she served.
A passionate traveler, Jean explored destinations across the United States, South America, Japan, Poland, Czechoslovakia and Russia, collecting memories and experiences that she held dear.
Jean was preceded in death by her son, Eric; her parents, Delbert and Olive Langosch; her parents-in-law, Leo and Bee Stonek; her sister, Linda Risler; her brother-in-law, Robert Stonek; her nephew, Dan Stonek; and her aunt, Helen McMahon.
Her kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the family would be deeply appreciated. Donations will support the placement of a Memorial Bench in the lobby of the Expo Center at the Wisconsin State Fair, a tribute to Jean’s lasting legacy there. Additionally, the family will make a contribution to Jean’s favorite charity, the MACC Fund (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer), in her honor.
