James P. Bowe Jr.

Passed away February 8, 2017 at the age of 90. Preceded in death by his wife Rose and cherished son Dougie. Loving father of Cindi (Rick) Carlson, Lydia (Eric) Krueger and Matt. Proud Grandfather of Kyle (Alida) Carlson, Kortney and Nicole (Chris) Novak and Great Grandfather of Zetta Rose and Aria. Further survived by his sisters Viv Littmann, Margie Bonvicini, Kathy Hammond and brothers Tom, Dan and Pat and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Evie and Jim and brothers Irv, Jerry and Vincent Bowe. At 17 Jim enlisted in the US Navy. He honorably served his country from June 1944 to September 1946 as a 3rd Class Gunner's Mate. He saw action in Okinawa and was just off the coast of Japan when the atomic bombs were dropped. Jim retired from Ladish with 40 years of service. He loved to bowl and golf and did so well into his 80's. He played Sheepshead at the Kelly Senior Center and walked Southridge mall with his buddies doing both up until last December. The family would like to send a special thanks to the nursing staff at St Luke's South Shore for their support, care and compassion. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 11 AM until the time of service at 1 PM. Burial will take place at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery with Full Military Honors on Monday at 11 AM.
