James "Jim" M. Piorkowski

October 12, 1949 — January 2, 2024

James M. Piorkowski, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, left this world on January 2, 2024, at the age of 74, passing away peacefully of natural causes in Franklin, Wisconsin. Jim was a beacon of kindness and humor, his courageous spirit leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. Born on October 12, 1949, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jim's life was one marked by dedication to his loved ones and his community.

Jim's journey began in the heart of Milwaukee, where he grew up and later attended Boys Tech, laying the foundation for a life of service. After completing his education, he embarked on a distinguished career as a Milwaukee County Police Officer. In his role, Jim not only protected the community but also formed enduring bonds with his colleagues, displaying a level of commitment and bravery that earned him the deep respect of all who worked alongside him.

Beyond his professional life, Jim's heart was truly anchored at home with his beloved wife, Susan Piorkowski. Their loving partnership spanned 52 incredible years, a testament to their unwavering support and devotion to each other. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Michael and Erik Piorkowski. Jim was a guiding light in their lives, imparting values of integrity and compassion. Although he experienced the sorrow of losing his daughter-in-law, Amy, his love for his family never wavered.

Jim's legacy continued to flourish through his cherished granddaughter, Lexi Piorkowski, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. His role as a grandfather was one he cherished deeply, filled with moments of laughter and shared adventures.

He was the beloved son of Edward and Della “little Ma” Piorkowski and brother to Judy, Donna, Cheryl, and Leanne Piorkowski, each of whom shared a unique and unbreakable bond with him. Jim also held a special place in his heart for his brother-in-law, Greg (and his wife Ginger) Szopinski, with whom he shared countless memories. His extended family, a network of relatives and friends, will fondly remember Jim's warm presence and the light he brought into their lives.

Jim's interests painted the picture of a man who relished the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid fisherman and a skilled deer hunter, finding solace and excitement in the great outdoors. Even when he wasn't basking in nature's serenity, Jim could be found at home, unwinding while watching his favorite TV shows, a pastime that brought him much comfort and relaxation.

The words "kind," "funny," and "courageous" are often used to describe Jim, but they only scratch the surface of the man he was. His kindness was a gentle force that lifted others; his sense of humor was a wellspring of laughter in good times and solace in hard ones; his courage was a quiet strength that saw him through challenges both personal and professional.

As we say goodbye to James M. Piorkowski, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and joy. Jim's spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him, and the stories of his kindness, wit, and bravery will be passed down through generations. He was, and always will be, a cherished soul who lived a life full of love and left the world a better place. Jim's memory will be held in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.
