James C. Mier, known as Jim to his loved ones, passed away on October 31, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on July 12, 1946, in the heart of Wisconsin, Jim's life was built on a foundation of commitment, integrity, family, and living life in its simplest form.
Jim's journey through life was shared with his beloved wife of 25 years, Peggy Mier, who stood by his side as a partner in all things. Together, they nurtured a family that grew to include their son Jamie, Jamie's spouse Tracy, and their adored grandson, Brady, who became one of the brightest joys in Jim's life.
He was the cherished brother of RoyLynn "Lynn" (the late John), Martin "Marty" (the late Ellen), Stephan "Steve", Richard "Dick" (Karen), William "Billy", Joan "Joani" (the late Paul), Michael "Mike" (Debra "Debbie"), and Franny "Mary" (Phil). Jim also held a special place in the hearts of his siblings-in-law, Claudia (Todd), Eileen (Dave), and Gerard. His extended family included his lifelong friends, The Giffords, and he was further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and his “girl” Phoebe.
A graduate of Granville High School, Jim was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to civilian life, he channeled his dedication and work ethic into the successful operation of Mier Installation Services, which he owned and operated with his brother Steve. His business and commitment to his trade skills can be seen throughout the windows of Southeastern, WI.
For Jim, family was the cornerstone of his existence. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and took great pride in being a supportive husband, father, and adoring grandfather. His interest in antiquing and attending art shows was more than a hobby; it was a way for him to appreciate history, and the beauty of craftsmanship all along spending time with his wife.
Described by those who knew him, Jim was funny, wise, spirited, and heavily opinionated. His wit and sarcasm were matched by profound personal accountability. Jim's legacy is one of laughter, wisdom, and respect for life. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the remarkable man he was and the countless lives he touched. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
