James "Jim" Bartes

February 8, 1944 — December 6, 2020

James “Jim” Bartes age 76 of Wind Lake, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday December 6th, 2020, with wife Cris and his loving dogs Bunker and MJ by his side. Jim is survived by wife Cris of 41 years; his sons Bryan and Kevin Bartes; beloved grandpa “papa” to Jayda; Brother to Larry (Noreen) Bartes, Patricia (Denny) Allen, Rita Bartes, Mary Ann (Christopher) Burrill; Brother – in-law to Lisa (Scott)Bohachef, Barry (Gloria) Klunder along with many nieces, nephews and other family and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Marie and Joseph, his brother Laverne “Skip” (Carol) Bartes, and sister Catherine Clark. Jim spent the majority of his life as a member of Teamster’s Local 200 driving semi over-the-road. After retirement, Jim ran a local restaurant in Wind lake and was an independent contractor driving dump truck. In his free time, Jim always was willing to help anyone in need. He also volunteered with snow removal and other services at the VA campus in West Milwaukee. Jim loved the open road riding his Harley with friends and family by his side. He always had a great sense of humor and love of practical jokes. His family is grateful to the staff at ProHealth Hospice, especially his nurse Laura who guided his family to the last hours after losing his long battle with lung disease. In keeping with Jim’s wishes he will be cremated, and a family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
