Age 93. Died peacefully the morning of July 15, 2023 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his daughter Cheryl Gabrielson (Bob) of Black River Falls, son Curtis Olinger (Jennie) of Milwaukee, granddaughter Rebecca Konyn (Dan) of Galesville, grandson Richard Odness (Laura) of Bloomer, Stepchildren Stephanie, Dane, and Lacy, Great-grandchildren, sisters Lois Schmidt, Judy Edwards, brother Raymond, other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, grandson Cedric Olinger, his parents Joseph and Isabel Olinger, in-laws Joseph Bousky, Lorraine Bousky, stepmother in-law Dottie Bousky, sisters Mary, Theresa and Cathy, Brothers Robert and Thomas.
After serving in the Army, Jim attended and graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He then worked for the State of Wisconsin until his retirement. For many years he also owned and managed rooming houses. Jim was a hunter of deer and ducks and loved being up North. Bowling was in his blood from setting pins as his first job to getting a 300 game during League play. Later in life, golfing was his passion and golfed on most vacations, volunteered at the Greater Milwaukee Open, and played on many golf leagues. Traveling was a part of his life and he enjoyed seeing the world.
Visitation will be held at St. Alphonsus Parish (6060 W. Loomis Rd. Greendale, WI) on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. with Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M.
