James J. Barant

Barant, James J. Longtime resident of Greenfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, March 31, 2013. He was 75. Loving father of Randy (Michelle) Barant. Proud and adoring grandpa of Madeline, Noah and Cooper. Further survived by special friends Denny and Marge Walton, Barb and Gayle Willis, John and Marge Hense and June. He also leaves his brother-in-law Duane Sunnell, and his nieces and nephews Jeff (Karen) Young, Linda (Frank) Larsen and Jim (Katy) Young He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Carol (Nee Sunell) and his sisters Sandra Barant and Violet Savma. James worked for P & H Harnishfeger for over 21 years prior to his retirement. He was an Army veteran having served 7 years with the 757 Railway Transportation Unit. He was an avid gardener and bird watcher, and also enjoyed trains and eating out with friends. His greatest love however was for his family. He will be sadly missed. Visitation in the Funeral Home on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be held at 7 PM with military honors to follow. Final rest will be in Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society.
