James F. Podlewski

January 28, 1942 — January 21, 2024

James F. Podlewski, Milwaukee, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at the age of 81. Born on January 28, 1942, in Milwaukee, WI, to the late Siegmund and Martha (Kalamarski) Podlewski. James was a beloved father to his daughters Rachael, Valerie (CJ), and Jessica (Brian). He was a cherished grandfather to Garrett, Jocelyn, Sara, Sydney, Shawn, Paige, and Evan, and a proud great-grandfather to Kendra. His sister Nancy, with whom he shared many fond memories, will miss him dearly. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. James was preceded in death by his siblings Rosemary, Siegmund Jr., and Gloria (Melvin), Donald and his brother-in-law Norman.

James was a highly skilled auto mechanic, a trade that allowed him to express his mechanical genius. James's passions were as diverse as his skills. He was an avid rider of his low rider Harley motorcycle, a pursuit that brought him immense joy and a sense of freedom. He was equally at home on the water or in the woods, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting, embracing the tranquility and challenge they offered. His love for metal detecting spoke to his curiosity and his appreciation for the stories hidden beneath our feet.

A true chocolate lover, James never missed an opportunity to indulge in his favorite treat. His love for reading was evident in his extensive knowledge of religions, history, and the countless books that filled his shelves. His intellect was further sharpened by his daily engagement with crossword puzzles. His hands were rarely still, as he was always ready to fix, build, or improve something for those he loved. Friends and family knew they could rely on James for his practical help and guidance, often seeking his advice as well as his talking points on life.

As we say goodbye to James F. Podlewski, we celebrate his life and legacy on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 11:00 AM until the 1:00 PM service held at the MAX A. SASS & Sons Oklahoma Chapel. Though he will be greatly missed, the memories of his thoughtful presence, his friendly smile, and his handy work will remain with us always.
