Our loving husband and father, Jack Leroy Bentzler, 89, was born to eternal life on May 10th, 2024, while surrounded by his family.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carol (nee: Staupickas) Bentzler; 3 children, Lynn (nee: Bentzler) Schueler, Jeffrey (Myrna) Bentzler, Julie (nee: Bentzler) (Dan) Jackson Jr.; grandsons, Kyle Schueler and Brody Bentzler; sister and brother, Richard Bentzler and Joanie Cruz. Jack is proceeded in death by his parents Walter and Ethel, his sister Marilyn Miller, brothers Ronald (Audrey) Bentzler and Gerry (Mary) Bentzler. Jack had many other loving relatives and friends.

Jack Leroy Bentzler was born on December 1st, 1934, and grew up in Wauwatosa. He was one of 6 siblings. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army for 4 years and was fortunate to spend time in Germany. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Carol, and they married on Oct. 8th, 1966. They had 3 children, Lynn, Jeff, and Julie, born in 1968, 1971 and 1977. Jack and Carol built their first and only house in Franklin and have lived there since 1973. Jack worked at Wetzel Brothers as a Printer until he retired in 2000. Jack was blessed with 2 grandsons', Kyle in 1998 and Brody in 2009. Jack was also blessed with a son-in-law, DJ and a daughter-in-law, Myrna.

Jack enjoyed 24 years of fruitful retirement. He spent his time researching genealogy, building model airplanes, playing Wordle, cribbage, and Sudoku daily, going to the EAA Fly-In in Oshkosh, searching for Wheat pennies and collecting coins, and spending everyday with his wife Carol. They were inseparable. He also devoted all his free time to his children and grandsons.

Jack will always be remembered for: being a beloved husband, a perfect dad and role model for his children, being a problem solver, always putting his family first, could fix, build, or improve anything, had the unique ability to keep everything, took pride in his yard and his perfect grass, recording change found on the ground with Julie, making maple syrup every spring, was a proud member of B.R.O.U.P., his love for flannel shirts, being a Grandpa, his sense of humor, inventing names for things he couldn't remember, always washing the dishes for Carol, giving Brody rides on his leg, losing his slipper when the Bucks or Packers made a bad play, warning Lynn to watch for deer even though he was the only one to hit 2, having 6 containers of ice cream in the freezer, his British sports cars (MG and Austin Healey), traveling (up north, Wisconsin Dells, Great America, Utah, California, Las Vegas and Florida), hosting many family parties on the deck he built, Big Band music, his love for butter, meatloaf, a Mexican combo plate, Kopps chocolate malts and butter pecan custard, making chili, split pea soup and banana nut muffins, having the ability to make cars last over 230,000 miles (The Brown Bomber 1+2), doing projects with Jeff whenever he came home, teaching his family about investing, money management, patience, how to treat others, doing projects and shooting guns with Kyle in the basement, giving directions and drawing maps to everywhere we went even though we knew how to get there, baking Christmas cookies every year with Carol, finally buying a riding lawn mower when he was 88, his love for his birthday tire with coffee frosting, and making the annual pilgrimage to the 3rd of July fireworks with his custom seating.

Jack was the light of our lives. Words cannot express the void we feel of you no longer being here. We can't imagine a world without you. Thank you for everything you have done for us. Your wings may have been ready, but our hearts were not. We will never forget you and will love and miss you every day. Rest in Peace.
