Peters, Henry P. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the age of 91. Beloved husband and "Sport" of the late Rose Peters (nee Jeka). Loving father of John (Mary) Peters, Marlene Baldikoski-Ricco (Jim), Jean (Dick) Sucher, Jim (Beth) Peters and Rick (Cherie) Peters. Proud grandpa and hero of Colin (Carolyn), Ryan (Heather), Tyler, Alyssa and Jonathan. Dear great-grandpa of Dylan and Jason. Loving brother of Mary Reed of Oceanside, CA and his nine siblings who preceded him in death. Henry was a Purple Heart decorated WWII Army veteran, proudly serving in the 95th Division (General Patton's "Bravest of the Brave") from 1944-45 and always a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He belonged to the Typographers Printing Union and retired from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel after many years of rewarding service. He was a pioneer in recycling copper and aluminum in the 1980s as a hobby to fund his grandchildren's bank accounts. His gardening passion was to grow the best tomatoes and then lovingly give them away for family and neighbors to enjoy. He and "lucky" Rosie loved the Packers, the Brewers (Braves) and Las Vegas. Visitation on Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 4PM to 8PM at the MAX A. SASS & SONS GREENRIDGE CHAPEL with the Funeral Service at 7PM. Additional visitation on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 10AM to 11AM followed by the procession to St. Adalbert Cemetery for committal services and full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Disabled American Veterans appreciated.. Henry's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for the wonderful care and compassion given to him by the staff at Layton Terrace in Greenfield and most recently at Care-Age of Brookfield and Allay Hospice.
