Henry "Hank" J. Kolp

Henry "Hank" J. Kolp, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the age of 93 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Born on May 11, 1931, in the same city, Hank's journey was one marked by love of family, friends, and faith. Hank, a devoted family man, is preceded in death by his cherished wife of 57 years, Rosemarie Lesczynski, his daughter Michele Kolp, his parents, John and Mary Kolp, his siblings, Harold Kolp (Mary Jane), and Jean Tokarski (Florian). He is survived by his loving daughters, Nancy Kolp (Frank Steele) and Jaclyn Kolp, along with many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, and friends. He was "Papa Hank" to all of the Steele children and grandchildren.

Hank was very proud of all three of his daughters. His loved ones will fondly remember Hank's story telling and spirited conversation. After graduating from Boy's Technical High School of Milwaukee, Hank served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked for Allen Bradley and Clairmont Transfer, later discovering his true passion for the hospitality industry, where he left his mark at notable Milwaukee restaurants such as Eugene's, Frenchy's and the Bulldog Pub, Packing House, Southwoods, and his own venture, Take Five in Milwaukee. Hank was not just a mixologist; he was an artist, crafting cocktails in fine dining restaurants with such distinction and personality serving celebrities such as Bob Hope, Rocky Marciano, Mickey Rooney and famous athletes. In retirement, Hank enjoyed being a summer playground attendant for the Milwaukee Recreation Department at the MPS baseball fields.

Hank enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with his wife and friends. He enjoyed classic movies and he was an avid fan of the Packers and Brewers. His love for sports was so deep that he once tried out for the Cleveland Browns. His heritage was a source of immense pride; as a Kaszube American, he honored his ancestry, which traced back to the influential fishing community on Jones Island.

He was a long time resident of Wilson Commons where he played cards and enjoyed dear friendships.

As we bid farewell to Henry "Hank" J. Kolp, let us carry forward the essence of his vibrant spirit. Let us remember that life, like a finely mixed cocktail, is best enjoyed with passion and served with a smile. Hank's life was a masterclass in making the most of every opportunity, and in his memory, we are reminded to do the same. To know Hank was to know a life well-lived, full of moments cherished and shared. As we celebrate his journey, we do so with the knowledge that Hank's story continues in each of us, through the love he gave and the joy he brought into our lives.

Memorial Visitation at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 524 W. Historic Mitchell St. Milwaukee, WI 53204, on Friday, November 15th, Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, visitation from 9:30-11:00 AM. Private Internment at Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family appreciated.
