Nowak, Helen M. ( nee Zaniewski) Reunited with her husband Edwin on Monday March 31st 2014 at the age of 94. She was born in Milwaukee on June 8th 1919. In 1945 she was united in marriage to the late Edwin Nowak in Tampa Florida. To this union they were blessed with three children, 11 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. After losing her husband, Helen, determined and hardworking, attended night school to earn her accounting degree, she worked for many years as an accountant for Milwaukee County Medical Complex until her retirement in 1988. Having too much energy for retirement Helen went to work in the office at Blessed Sacrament Parish and finally retired in 2003 at the age of 83 she was a very active member of Blessed Sacrament Parish. Helen also had a love of traveling having visited Europe and Rome. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing having left behind many beautiful memories of this in the numerous afghans & scarves she made for her Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her husband Edwin Nowak, parents Anton & Marcyana Zaniewski, Stepfather John Bukowicki, Brothers John Zaniewski & Stanly Bukowicki, Sister Ann Nitka and great granddaughter Charlotte Hansen. She is survived by Sister Sophie Laing, her children Mary (Tim) Enders, Duane (Sharon) Nowak, Richard (Jackie) Nowak, 11 Grandchildren and 16 Great Grandchildren. Along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. . The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Helen's caregiver, Sandy Koman, and the staff at St. Francis Hospital. Visitation will be held Monday April 7th at Blessed Sacrament Parish (S. 41st and W. Oklahoma Ave.) from 10 am-10:45 am. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Fr. Turner at 11 am. Interment will be at St. Adalbert's Cemetery Milwaukee, WI. In lieu of flowers memorials to Blessed Sacrament Church or School appreciated.
