Heidi Beth Culum, affectionately known as Grandma, passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 8, 2025, in South Milwaukee, WI. Born on January 22, 1957, at St. Francis Hospital, Heidi's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds.
Heidi was the heart of her family, a beacon of love and generosity. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Betty Jane and John Jerome Gondek, her brother Cary Gondek, and her baby sister Catherine Ann Gondek, as well as her cherished dog Murphy. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Peter, her daughters, Sarah Culum and Laura Dehoyes, and her brothers, Tom, Randy, and Mark Gondek. Her legacy continues through her adored grandchildren, Moriah, Alex, Nick, Boston, Riley, and Mia, and her great-granddaughter, Brynlee, along with numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces who were touched by her generous spirit.
Heidi's journey was marked by a commitment to learning and service. After earning her GED, she went on to obtain an Associate's degree through MATC. She dedicated many years as a Telemetry Technician, first with Ascension and then with Aurora, where she was known for her selfless care and attention to detail.
Grandma Heidi's interests were a reflection of her love for life and family. She took great joy in watching her grandchildren play sports and was a passionate fan of the Brewers and Packers. Her happiest moments were spent on day trips to Lake Geneva or simply being at home in the company of her husband and dog Shiloh.
Those who knew Heidi would describe her as loving, selfless, and generous. She had a heart that never hesitated to give and a presence that brought warmth to any room. In the words of Mother Teresa, “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” Heidi lived this sentiment every day, touching lives with her unwavering love and kindness. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of those who loved her.
