Hazel Marie (Bechtel) Easter, age 96, went home to Jesus on Sunday, July 11, 2021. She died peacefully at her home in Franklin, Wisconsin. Hazel will be lovingly remembered by her three children, Vicki Kidd, Laurel Thomas, and Brian Bechtel; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren plus numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Hazel was born in Gettysburg, South Dakota. She was the fifth born to Ralph and Nettie Wolfe and was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and two sisters. She started school in Jerico Springs, Missouri in a little one-room country school then graduated from Colfax High School in Iowa, Class 0f 1945. Hazel moved to Kansas City, Missouri for work where she met her husband of 47 years, Stan Bechtel. Together they raised three children and made homes in Missouri, Kansas, Ohio, Wisconsin, Idaho, and Oklahoma. After Stan passed, she found companionship and married Lowell Easter. Her final years were spent in Franklin, Wisconsin with her daughter Laurel, after Lowell passed. Hazel was a very active soul, strong in her faith, and dedicated to her family. She never rested knowing there were things that needed to be done. She loved gardening, taking care of her home, and cooking for her family. Her recipes will continue to be handed down to future generations. She loved spending time with her family and was lovingly known as GiGi. Her love for the Lord shown through all that she did. The Bible verse that spoke most to her was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
