Gloria Irene Messner (nee Ciardo), formally known as Gloria Irene Mastrostefano, beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on February 2, 1935, Gloria's life was a testament to her spirited nature and unwavering devotion to her family, friends, and community.
Gloria was the beloved wife of Bruce Messner, with whom she shared a life full of laughter, adventure, and mutual support. Together, they created a family and a home that was always filled with warmth and the delicious aromas of Gloria's cooking. As a loving mother, she leaves behind a legacy of nurturing through her children Mark (Ann), Toni (Randy), Terese, and Tia (Steve). Each of them carries forward her spirit of kindness and her passion for life.
Gloria's joy was multiplied as she became Nana to her cherished grandchildren Danielle, Morgan, Brent, Taylor, Brooke, Drew, Mackenzie, Shane, and Eddie. Her love extended to Bruce's children, Mike (Gail), Laura, Ramona (Steve), Beth, and remembered the late Barbara, whose memories remain a treasure to the family. Her playful and caring nature will be fondly remembered by Bruce’s grandchildren Ryan, Tyler, Rachael, Josh, and Joey, as well as her eight great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness. She was dear sister to Marie (Ron), Carolyn (John), and the late Joey (Cheri).
Beyond her immediate family, Gloria was a dear sister to Marie (Ron), Carolyn (John), and the late Joey (Cheri), and was a friend and relative to many who were fortunate enough to experience her generous spirit. Her ability to connect with others extended into her professional life as the owner of multiple restaurants. Gloria's establishments were more than just businesses; they were gathering places where patrons could always expect a warm welcome and a hearty meal, much like at her own family table.
Those who knew Gloria will remember her for her passions and interests, which brought her, and those around her, great joy. She had an exquisite taste in jazz music, often filling her home with its soulful melodies.
Gloria's visits to the casino were not just about the thrill of the game but also about the vibrant social atmosphere and the excitement of chance. Her culinary skills were unmatched, and she loved nothing more than to share her creations with those she loved. To her family, she was a fabulous mother and Nana, always there with open arms and a listening ear.
Gloria's character could be summed up in a few words: spirited, generous, and loving. These attributes were the essence of her being and the heart of her impact on the world. Her vivacious spirit uplifted everyone she met, her generosity knew no bounds, and her love was the kind that leaves a lasting imprint on one's soul.
