Gilbert K. "Gib" Bleck

December 4, 1929 — September 11, 2024

Gilbert K. Bleck, “Gib”, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024 at the age of 94. Born on December 4, 1929, Gilbert's life was dedicated to his family, his country, and his profession.


A loving husband of 59 years, father and proud grandpa, Gilbert's legacy is cherished by his wife Margaret, his children, Monica (Chris) Freeman, Jennifer Vitale, and Ann Bleck (Steve Thiboutot), as well as his adored grandchildren, Max, Emma, and Lizzie. His role as a brother was equally cherished, leaving behind sisters, Betty (Tom), Margie, Ginny, and Nancy. Gilbert was preceded in death by his brother Erich "Pete" and his parents, Kurt and Elsie, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion that he carried throughout his life.


Gilbert was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran during the Korean conflict. He served as an Electronics Technician Second Class aboard the USS Yellowstone, from 1948-1952.


Earning his MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is a testament to his intellectual prowess and commitment to continuous learning. Gilbert was a proud member of Lambda Chi Alpha during his college career. His professional career was marked by a 33-year tenure as an electrical engineer at AC Delco.


Among Gilbert's many passions, downhill skiing and gardening stood out as the pursuits that brought him the most joy.


Those who knew Gilbert would describe him as kind, thoughtful, and intelligent. He approached every encounter with a gentle demeanor and a sharp mind, always ready to listen and offer sage advice. His kindness extended beyond his immediate circle to touch the lives of many, including family and friends who felt the warmth of his generosity.


Gilbert's life was a journey marked by the joy he found in simple pleasures, the pride he took in his family's achievements, and the impact he had on the world around him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.


A Memorial Gathering will be held at Max A. Sass & Sons-Greenridge Chapel (4747 S. 60th St., Greenfield, WI 53220) on Thursday, September 19 starting at 4PM until time of Service at 6PM.
