Gilbert D. Lenski found his way into the arms of the Lord on August 27, 2023 at the age of 73. Gil was a devoted husband to Cindy (Heitman), a caring father to Scott (David) and Michelle (Jason), a loving brother to Sandy (Bob), and a very proud grandpa to his grandchildren Jack, Jay, and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Arline. He will be remembered by many other family and friends who relished his caring ways and loving kindness.
Gil attended and graduated from Bay View High School in 1968. After school, he served in the Vietnam War as a radio operator both in Vietnam and Thailand. While overseas, he gained some brothers including Charlie, Mike, and Kevin and many others whom he kept in contact with until the end of his life.
After returning from the war, he was asked to be a Godparent for his buddy Tom whom he had served with. Tom also asked his own cousin Cindy to be a Godparent. Little did Gil and Cindy know, but they were being set up. The set-up worked, and Gil and Cindy married in 1974.
The happy couple first had their son Scott, and then their daughter Michelle. Gil had many occupations including a factory worker for Miller Brewing and an insurance salesman at Prudential. Gil was very proud of his associate’s degree that he earned from MATC which allowed him to become a plastics engineer at Seaquist Closures (now known as Aptar).
Gil loved to golf, even if he always lost to his brother-in-law Jim. Gil was also a big Bruce Springsteen fan, and he got the chance to see The Boss one last time this past March. He also loved seeing action movies on the big screen. In recent years Gil loved being retired and enjoyed spending time with Cindy at their trailer home in Lodi, Wisconsin. He also loved to watch his grandchildren play sports, and he rarely missed a basketball, football, or baseball game.
