GERALD “JERRY” EDWARD KASPRZAK

MILWAUKEE – Gerald Edward Kasprzak went home to God on April 15, 2024 at the Maplewood Health Care Center after a courageous battle with a lung infection and complications of Parkinson’s disease. Jerry, the first of seven children of the late Martha Kathryn (nee Dickrell) and Edward John Kasprzak, was born on October 20, 1940.

Deeply loved by his wife of 50 years, Rosemary Murphy, Jerry was the proud father of five children, Paul Jerome (Renee), the late Steven James, the late Lori Anne (Scott) Gatzke, David Joseph (Madeline) and Edward Kieran (Kimberly) Kasprzak. He is survived by 22 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and, preceded in death, by an infant granddaughter, Eloise Elizabeth Kasprzak.

Jerry is survived by six siblings, Julian Kasprzak, Kathleen (John) Smith, Rosemary (Alfred) Hoffman, Daniel (Melody) Kasprzak, Linda (Michael) Sternig, John (Katherine) Kasprzak, and by many nieces, nephews, Dickrell relatives, dear friends, and his first wife, Patricia (George) Sellon.

A proud 1958 graduate of Pius XI High School, Jerry entered the United States Army Reserves following high school. After basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, he returned to Milwaukee to enter the sales field and enjoyed his time as a Fuller Brush Sales Representative and auto glass salesperson. Jerry’s passion was carpentry and fixing things. In 1979, he became a small business owner, establishing Jerry’s Handyman Service, and enjoyed much success handling small home repairs for insurance agents. In 1991, due to health issues, Jerry was forced to close his business; however, he found much joy in assisting do-it-yourself customers at Ace Hardware stores in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa. He was always passionate about satisfying and promoting the success of persons with repair or hardware needs.

Jerry was a faithful Christian, devoted to his wife, Rosie, and to his children. He loved God, his family, his Church, his country and Milwaukee’s south side. His family extends their deepest gratitude to his caregivers from the State of Wisconsin IRIS Program, his Froedtert care team, the nurses and aides of Sunny View and Terrace View of the Maplewood Health Care Center, and to Melanie, Tammy, Marci and Michael, his VITAS care team. Jerry was always grateful for all those who prayed for him, especially those from his Church, St. Matthias.
